This VILT OSHA 10-Hour Outreach General Industry course serves as an essential introduction to occupational safety and health for entry-level employees.

This program is part of OSHA’s Outreach Training initiative aimed at promoting understanding of safety protocols as outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910, and it focuses on enhancing safety in the workplace.

In this course, you will explore OSHA’s recommended strategies for minimizing risks and preventing injuries, including topics such as Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

The course also covers key risks present in general industry settings and the methods for identifying, managing, and safeguarding against them, which include handling flammable materials, navigating chemical and electrical dangers, and fire safety.

Moreover, you will learn about the responsibilities your employer has regarding your safety and the protections afforded to you by OSHA. This includes understanding how to lodge a complaint should your workplace not adhere to required safety standards.

Exam, Pass Rates and DOL Card

  • A desktop, or laptop computer with keyboard must be used to access our Virtual Instructor-Led Training courses (Chromebooks, smart phones and tablets are not compatible).
  •  Devices must have keyboard, audio and video camera capability to allow the student to communicate through written, verbal and non-verbal communications.
  • Students must share government issued ID through visual confirmation.
  • Students must have uninterrupted internet or Wi-Fi access for the entirety of the course

This is a LIVE instructor led course over two days and participants are required to attend both days and modules in order to pass the course. Participants shall be physically present in front of a camera that is on for the duration of the entire course to ensure validity of the participant.

Participants will receive an official DOL card in the mail to their desired address within 90 days of the course completion date. Participants will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course completion card (PDF) immediately after successfully completing the course.

The 10-hour General Industry Course is NOT equivalent to the OSHA 510 or 511 courses. This 10-hour course does not meet the course prerequisites to take the OSHA 500 or OSHA 501 courses.
All course participants must complete the full course to receive a valid U.S. DOL OSHA 10-Hour Card. Participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on the course final exam.
