Crane Safety Overview:
This course covers the essential techniques of crane rigging, including directing the work on the ground, and ensuring the safe, efficient conduct of crane operations.
The course starts by examining the safety standards laid down by industry bodies before going on to look at common crane types and how to choose the right crane for the job.
You’ll see how to interpret a Crane Load Chart, the stability and structural strength limitations, and the importance of Net and Gross Capacity.
Other topics include the Critical Working Range Diagram and the key dimensions of the crane.
The course will look at crane stability and safety, including outriggers, counterweights and movement.
Modern cranes have a wide range of in-cab technology which we’ll discuss before talking about the effects of wind on crane safety.
There’ll be a wide range of information on sling safety, along with common sling configurations and their operational benefits.
We’ll show how to inspect and maintain a range of slings along with rigging hardware links, shackles, end-fittings, wire rope clips and hooks.
Finally, the course will cover a full range of hand signals used to communicate between the ground and the crane operator.
