Safety Orientation – Construction Overview:

The course begins by laying the foundational basics of safety practices, dives into OSHA’s pivotal role in creating a safe work environment and covers the key aspects of using and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). You will learn about the importance of thorough housekeeping, the need for an effective emergency response plan, and fire protection basics to cultivate a proactive safety culture at construction sites.

Next, you will learn how to identify and manage workplace hazards, with particular attention on averting fall-related incidents. You will then gain knowledge on the safe operation of ladders and scaffolds, along with best practices for roof work, all aimed at reinforcing a culture of safety on site.

Further along, you’ll get to explore tool and machinery safety, critical lockout/tagout processes, electrical safety, and how to handle chemical and material hazards, arming you with the tools needed for a safe construction environment.

Finally, you will get a comprehensive look at navigating confined spaces, executing excavation with best practices, applying ergonomics, handling materials safely, and addressing key health and environmental concerns like extreme temperature exposure, noise, and hazardous particulates to bolster safety and health in construction work.

TSS Facilities Ltd is a facilities management company based in Hove, Sussex. The company has been trading for 47 years and covers four main disciplines - commercial heating, electrical, air conditioning and legionella. TSS Facilities holds maintenance contracts with universities, schools, hotels and local authorities.

‘Before we started using VideoTile,’ says Water Treatment Director, Steve Tugwell, ‘we offered classroom-based training which was only suitable for large groups. But, now, training is available as a mix of classroom training and VideoTile courses for everyone - right down to single people at separate or remote sites. Typically, we train premises managers, people in charge of office blocks, caretakers, and client staff who handle maintenance and need to be aware of other issues that could affect their role.’
