Asbestos Awareness – Online Course
Asbestos Awareness Overview:
This online training course covers Asbestos Awareness on Construction sites.
We’ll start by defining asbestos, its uses, and the serious diseases it can cause, such as asbestosis and mesothelioma.
You’ll learn about the OSHA asbestos construction standards and the importance of Asbestos Management Plans.
Asbestos training is vital if employees are to remain safe. We’ll highlight Asbestos Awareness training, Special Operations and Maintenance training, and Abatement Worker training along with the four classifications of asbestos work.
We’ll also discuss the “competent person”, their responsibilities and training, along with the importance of regulated areas and how to deal with asbestos on multi-employer worksites.
You’ll be shown how to dispose of asbestos safely and how monitoring and assessment procedures can protect workers from asbestos hazards.
Other topics include employee medical surveillance programs and the system of medical examinations and consultations.
We also look at the Hierarchy of Controls – including engineering and administrative controls, warning signs, and labels.
You’ll learn about respirators, fit testing and respirator maintenance, along with respiratory protection programs, and medical evaluations.
We’ll take you through the 3-room asbestos decontamination process, including the “drop-cloth” option.
Finally, there’ll be information on recordkeeping, asbestos exposure measurements, and medical surveillance.
Note: This course is designed to raise awareness of hazards and the steps that can be taken to reduce the impact of asbestos on construction sites.
