This online Silica Safety E-Learning course will increase understanding and offer practical advice to help deal with the hazards caused by silica dust in the workplace.

The E-Learning Silica Safety course starts by highlighting the industries and activities where silica dust is a health problem, and show how it can be measured and prevented.

During the online Silica Safety course we’ll look at compliance and the responsibilities of both employers and workers according to the OSHA regulations.

The online Silica Course will explain Assigned Protection Factors and the main respirators used to control exposure.
You’ll learn the three methods of assessing exposure to silica during the online Silica Course, along with information about laboratory credentials, and the actions, such as recordkeeping, that are needed when exposure results are returned.

There will also be practical advice on keeping samples, lab reports, medical exam reports, and training documentation.

During the E-learning Silica Course we’ll show you how to set up a Silica Exposure Control Plan with regulated areas and signage.

Finally, we have a series of important questions and answers about the practicalities of managing silica safety in the workplace.

From its base in Barnham, Sussex, SME Advisor provides a range of HR and Health and Safety consultancy services to small-to-medium-sized businesses, across a variety of sectors. TSS Facilities Ltd is a facilities management company based in Hove, Sussex. The company has been trading for 47 years and covers four main disciplines - commercial heating, electrical, air conditioning and legionella. TSS Facilities holds maintenance contracts with universities, schools, hotels and local authorities.

‘Before we started using VideoTile,’ says Water Treatment Director, Steve Tugwell, ‘we offered classroom-based training which was only suitable for large groups. But, now, training is available as a mix of classroom training and VideoTile courses for everyone - right down to single people at separate or remote sites. Typically, we train premises managers, people in charge of office blocks, caretakers, and client staff who handle maintenance and need to be aware of other issues that could affect their role.’

The company also uses classroom training and VideoTile e-learning courses to explain large complex reports, such as Legionella risk assessments.
